About Marla Benton

Marla is a clay artist. She earned her education through the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the Ontario College of Art and Design (BFA) and Nipissing University (B.Ed.). As an artist and teacher, she worked in the Yukon, northern Quebec, Ontario and Nova Scotia. Through all her experiences, Marla has worked in many different materials. She found that clay was a perfect fit for her as it enables her to be practical and fanciful at the same time.

From growing up in a small rural town, to traveling to 39 different countries, to living in a pickup truck and then on a motorcycle for 6 months, Marla has lived and adventured while gathering experiences and memories that she draws from while creating her work. Settled on the South Shore of Nova Scotia for the last 10 years, she has been able to share her art and stories and find inspiration all along the way.
