January 16th – February 15th 2020

The Khyber is pleased to announce an upcoming group exhibition and series of public events curated by Camila Salcedo, titled Memorial: Work by Venezuelan Diaspora Artists. This exhibition will feature work by young Venezuelan artists who have immigrated and are creating work within the context of Canada: Ana Luisa Bernardez Notz, denirée isabel, Sebastián Rodríguez y Vasti, Alejandro Rizzo, Cecilia Salcedo, Camila Salcedo; and Andrea Dudier, who is currently living and making within the context of Argentina.

Printed matter, as well as descriptions of audio works featured in the exhibition, will be available as free takeaways. Didactic panels describing the works will be available in English and Spanish.

Please see all event details and curatorial statements listed below. The events and exhibition will take place at the Khyber Centre for the Arts on 1880 Hollis Street. Gallery hours are 6-9PM on Mondays and 12-5PM Wednesdays-Fridays throughout the exhibition, January 16th-February 15th 2020.

FREE / For all ages!

Please join us for the artist talk and exhibition opening reception from 6-9PM on January 16th. This is an opportunity for visitors to experience the work and to gain critical insight into the issues and ideas raised by the work. Refreshments and a cash bar will be available.

Food and Music Gathering

9PM-12AM Saturday, January 18th
9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

$10 or PWYC / 19+ event, please bring gov. ID

All who are 19+ are invited to attend this food and music gathering from 9PM-12AM on January 18th. This event will include delicious catering, live DJs and an opportunity to raise funds for Venezolanos por la Vida Canadá, which is currently providing medicines, food and other necessary items to Venezuelan communities in grave need. More details will be announced January 2020
