Drums were made under instruction of Todd Labrador, a First Nation craftsman, of British Columbia and Nova Scotia, who brought all materials for this workshop (elk hide, yellow cedar hoops, moose antler). As a special treat he brought the 16′ birch bark canoe which he recently made. Alan Syliboy, reknowned Mi’kmaq artist, from Millbrook, Nova Scotia, instructed the students in the content, drawing and painting of the drums. This workshop was featured as a news item on CBC – TV on August 8th & 9th, and both locally and nationally, and on CBC – Radio, “Information Morning”, on August 8th.
